Summary of Position

The Senior Staff Accountant will support a range of accounting functions, including payroll journal entries and reporting, support month-end close cycle, group billing support, cash management (including operation of a cash machine), financial reporting, ad hoc variance analysis, profitability analysis, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and promote a strong internal control environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and balances.
  • Be industrious with assigned asset and liability reconciliations.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Maintain the general ledger system, including posting journal entries, reconciling P&L accounts, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, adjust and reclass weekly Trial Balance to be sent out to management team, making sure strong business support to department managers.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, supporting schedules, and resolving audit inquiries as needed.
  • Promote a strong internal control environment, able to recommend updates to internal written policies
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial support, analysis, and guidance to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute labor variance reporting and registers to internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare Sales and Occupancy tax return filing and payment withing required deadlines
  • Able to summarize complex business matters into an easy to understand format for stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the hospitality industry or luxury hotel environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, PMS, POS, credit card processing and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data, profitability, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA eligibility is a plus.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Physically able to walk and sit for extended periods of time
