Manages the day-to-day communications efforts promoting the firm’s position in the marketplace. Works collaboratively within the Business Development and Marketing team and leadership to build strategies and execution plans for integrated marketing communications and campaigns that support key initiatives and business plan objectives. Works directly with partners and BD&M colleagues on exciting external initiatives. Provides administrative oversight to the assigned team, performing a variety of tasks to ensure that assignments and projects are effectively completed in alignment with the firm’s overall strategic efforts and that service to clients is exceptional.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates with BD&M teams and other internal functions across a variety of stakeholder groups (from technical subject matter experts to business owners) to develop integrated marketing campaigns and build brand awareness
- Oversees, and takes a hands-on role in, the writing and publishing of content, including Client Stories, announcements, practice descriptions, biographies, firm-produced legal updates and white papers, and other firm-authored content
- Manages the Firm’s editorial review workflow and processes
- Supports strategic marketing communications efforts that support the Firm’s brand
- Presents complex information in an engaging, easily understandable format that reflects an understanding of C-Suite executives’ communication style, business concerns, and content delivery preferences
- Creates and executes annual content calendars and liaises with BD&M colleagues across the firm to strategize, develop, and implement content programs that build and expand the Firm’s brand and reputation across products and industries
- Ensures compliance with campaign risk and governance procedures, including review and engagement by legal, risk, and brand stakeholders
- Drives marketing excellence globally through the establishment of best practices and the promotion of innovation across all channels, with a client-centric approach that drives Mayer Brown’s global brand
- Monitors, analyses, and measures the effectiveness of marketing initiatives to develop insights and make recommendations
- Provides regular insights and training to lawyers to help them make their content more compelling and effective
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives
Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
- Master’s degree in business, law, or a communications-related field preferred
Professional Experience:
- 8-10 years of demonstrated success in marketing communications in a professional services or corporate environment, including success in creating practical, high-quality, content-driven online marketing strategies
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Must be a self-starter

- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects

Management Accountabilities:
- Manages processes for direct reports in regards to performance appraisals, annual compensation, goal setting, and performance counselling:
- Operational budget analysis and recommendations
- Conducts analysis of staffing levels and participation in the recruitment process
- Able to determine and implement change processes to improve workflow efficiencies
- Service-oriented
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Able to set priorities and delegate
Physical Requirements:
- May require travel to other offices as needed
The typical pay scale for this position is between $125,200 and $165,600, although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate’s education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.

Salary : $125,200 - $165,600
