Reports To:  Rural Health Clinic Medical Director and Clinic Manager

           

Employee Type:        X      EXEMPT                NON-EXEMPT

Sign-on bonus of $32,000 offered as a forgivable loan, to be forgiven at a rate of $8,000 per year

Annual bonus eligibility of up to $10,000

Transitional housing is available

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Rural health Physician reports to the Rural Health Clinic Medical Director and the Clinic Manager. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering comprehensive primary care to a diverse patient population, including families, children, and elderly patients. This role requires a physician who is passionate about community health, quality patient care, and who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  2. Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty is preferred
  3. Valid California medical license with no restrictions
  4. 5 years of primary care experience
  5. Experience in a rural or underserved setting is highly desirable

Specific Duties and Competencies:

 

  1. Balance the responsibilities of patient care and clinical administrative duties, including timely charting.
  2. Ensure patients receive the highest standard of medical care in compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
  3. Participate in quality improvement efforts, including performance improvement and risk management activities to enhance patient services and reduce adverse outcomes.
  4. Foster a collaborative atmosphere that promotes teamwork and excellence among staff.
  5. Ensure that all healthcare regulations and safety standards are met.
  6. Keep staff informed about new healthcare regulations and standards.
  7. Identify opportunities for improving clinical services and operational efficiency.
  8. Conduct chart reviews and provide supervision for nurse practitioners and physician assistants as needed, ensuring guidance in the absence of the medical director.
  9. Provide comprehensive primary care services, including preventive care, chronic disease management, acute care, and mental health services.
  10. Perform thorough patient evaluations, including physical examinations, medical histories, and diagnostic investigations.
  11. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
  12. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for all patients.
  13. Collaborate with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  14. Educate patients and families on health management, preventive care, and medication adherence.
  15. Attend RHC department meetings and participate in quarterly Medical Executive staff meetings.
  16. Participate in administrative, marketing, promotion, and medical education activities related to MMHD operations.
  17. Document Quality Improvement Program measures accurately to meet established standards and ensure consistent patient care.
  18. Consider applying for privileges to provide care in hospitals and long-term care facilities to ensure continuity of care.
  19. Stay current with medical guidelines and advancements in primary care to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes.
  20. Other duties typical to the role as assigned.

  1. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and professional
  2. Completes annual education requirements if applicable
  3. Maintains regulatory requirements
  4. Wears identification while on duty
  5. Attends annual evaluation and participates actively in this process
  6. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time
  7. Attends all meetings as appropriate.
  8. Exhibits the mission, ethics, and goals of Mayers Memorial Hospital District in the performance of job duties.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  1. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary
  2. Is involved with personnel, visitors and government agencies, etc., when necessary
  3. Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients and support agencies

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks and moves intermittently during working hours.
  2. Able to lift 20 lbs.
