Job Summary
The Mayflower School District is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to fill the role of Transportation Specialist. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, representing the school district positively.
- Follow established routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Inspect the bus before and after each operation, reporting any mechanical defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Supervise students while boarding and leaving the bus, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Communicate effectively with the transportation office, reporting any incidents or issues that may arise during the day.
- Assign seating to aid in maintaining proper discipline and ensure students are aware of safe riding rules and regulations.
- Operate two-way radio equipment and cell phones to communicate with the transportation office.
- Present a positive role model for students, supporting the school climate and mission of the school district.
- Attend and complete required training programs to maintain safety certification and first aid/CPR training.
Requirements
- Valid Arkansas commercial driver's license (Class B) with Passenger, Air Brake, and S endorsements.
- Ability to pass a criminal history check and DPS physical.
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of student discipline procedure.
Working Conditions
The Transportation Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, with moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes. The ability to maintain emotional control under stress is essential for this role.
