Job Title: Buyer/ Planner

Job Classification: Salary, Exempt

Wage Range: $55,000.00- $70,000.00

Base Work Schedule: M-F 7:30am-4:30pm (flex schedule available after successful completion of 90 day introductory period)

Job Summary

The Buyer/Planner must have advanced experience in analytics that involve planning and forecasting in a multi-channel and multi-brand environment. The Buyer/Planner is an integral role in the business for Mayfly Outdoors and will be responsible for the company’s analytical planning, maintains manufacturing operations by analyzing technical data; identifying, visiting, and investigating vendors; verifying vendor performance record; forwarding requirements to suppliers; negotiating price, terms, and delivery; preparing purchase orders; providing delivery time, location, and directions; tracking and expediting deliveries. The Buyer/Planner will manage Vendor inventory and ensure all materials are in place for current and new projects for Mayfly Outdoors. The Buyer/Planner will provide purchasing information and monthly reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, including detailed vendor information regarding new, amended, or ceased contracts to the CEO and the Senior Director of Operations . Overall the Buyer/Planner role is responsible for maintaining uninterrupted supply of purchased material to ensure demands and production goals are meet if not exceed

Essential functions and job responsibilities:

  • Accountable for maintaining the integrity of MRP planning parameters (costing lot size, lead times, days of supply)
  • Write, manage, and update component planning rules and drive cost and cycle time reduction with supplier base
  • Utilizing demand forecasts to generate supply plans
  • Develop forecasts utilizing various forecasting models based on consumption rates
  • Creating supply plans based on forecasts in a multi-variable, multi-channel model
  • Vendor negotiation and management
  • Plans materials and supplies purchases by studying operations plans and requirements.
  • Certifies vendors by identifying, visiting, and investigating vendors; verifying vendor performance record, materials, and supplies
  • Production planning and detailed schedule coordination with the manufacturing department and third party suppliers producing products on behalf of the Company
  • Partner with departments regarding inventory management, production planning, and detailed scheduled coordination
  • Obtains materials and supplies quotes by forwarding requirements to suppliers; evaluating alternatives.
  • Places materials, and supplies orders by negotiating price, terms, and delivery; preparing purchase orders.
  • Arranges delivery materials, and supplies by providing delivery time, location, and directions; tracking and expediting deliveries.
  • Resolves delivery discrepancies by comparing purchase order to delivery documentation; obtaining credits and refunds.
  • Reduces manufacturing costs by identifying new suppliers; evaluating substitutions and standardizations.
  • Improves quality purchasing results by analyzing items and vendor reliability; identifying and researching options; recommending changes.
  • Develops manufacturing materials and supplies specifications by analyzing technical data; documenting and communicating performance test standards.
  • Responsible for driving cost down initiatives on current bill-of-materials lists and factory purchasing activities.
  • Develop, plan, execute, record and manage cost-down initiatives for the factory.
  • Maintains purchasing records by updating item specifications and vendor databases.
  • Maintains bill of material for purchased items
  • Provides purchasing information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Protects organization value by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
  • Accountable for management of purchased product inventory levels and assisting in inventory organization.
  • Improves materials, and supplies purchasing job knowledge by attending training sessions; reading technical publications.
  • Contributes to purchasing and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • Inventory Management - Understand and maintain the minimum necessary raw materials and finished goods inventory and report on the status of inventory levels against inventory targets

Education and Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of verifiable work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Business/Administration, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Operations
  • 3-5 years experience inDemand Forecast in a Multi-channel Multi-brand environment.
  • Certification in Production and Inventory management a plus
  • Outdoor industry experience plus
  • 3 -5 years experience with Consumer Products
  • Advanced experience with ERP software system such as Netsuite
  • Advance experience with Excel and Google sheets
  • Passion for fly fishing preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail is imperative for success in this position
  • Balance multiple tasks while managing time efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
