What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solidworks Drafter position at Mazzella Companies?
We’re looking for a SolidWorks Drafter to design and detail overhead lifting equipment, including hoists, end trucks, bridge girders, and spreader bars. In this role, you’ll create fabrication, installation, and machining drawings using SolidWorks 3D software while collaborating with sales, shop, and field teams to support project execution. - Create custom crane fabrication and installation drawings using SolidWorks.
- Design and detail below-the-hook lifting devices in accordance with industry standards.
- Interface with PHC personnel from shop, service, sales, installation, shipping, and purchasing to help ensure safe, accurate, and timely delivery of our product.
- Efficiently develop general arrangement drawings to provide to customer to communicate basic dimensions of a crane system.
- Standardization of parts for implementation of package hoist product line to increase productivity and workflow.
- Use MS Excel to develop bills of material (BOM) for integration into ERP.
- Develop standard part drawings and models with the use of design tables to create family of parts efficiently.
- Develop and maintain engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to document standardization of engineering process
- Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner; follow all Safety Guidelines

Education:
A high school diploma or GED is required; An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university with a focus in Engineering, or related discipline is required; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in a draftsman role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement.
Experience & Skills:
- Preference for individuals with a minimum of 2 years of experience designing and detailing components utilizing Solidworks and AutoCAD, emphasis on machined parts, design tables, parametric design, weldments
- Experience in an ERP system strongly preferred
- Possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (ASME and OSHA)
- Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
- Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) is required
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
