MBS is hiring a Safety Specialist in Cincinnati, OH. This position is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Investigate and report findings for safety accidents, incidents, and near-misses, using root cause analysis methods and verification of countermeasures.
- Use data to identify safety trends and propose proactive measures to prevent future recurrence.
- Support the efforts of safety support consultants, including an Occupational Health Nurse, Ergonomic Specialist, Massage Therapist, and onsite Security Guards. Ensures resources provide coordinated, valuable support.
- Coordinates Worker’s Compensation activities. Coordinates resources and monitors outcomes. Develops countermeasures as appropriate.
- Lead self-insurance program with Third Party Vendors
- Provide safety training to team members, including new team members, new processes, powered industrial trucks, and ongoing refresher courses.
- Develop and maintain safety training materials, resources, and documentation.
- Identify potential safety hazards in the manufacturing processes and work areas, using safety risk assessment and other evaluation tools.
- Assist with development and implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures to eliminate or reduce risks, using hierarchy of safety controls.
- Leads the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to prepare employees for potential emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
- Promote a culture of safety through effective communication and awareness campaigns.
- Maintain safety posters, signage, and communication boards throughout the facility
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare and submit required reports both internally and externally as necessary
- Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with employees and management to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
