A progressive accounting firm is seeking a Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer to join their growing team.
You will work on a portfolio of clients, getting to know them and their businesses while working for a firm focused on building relationships with their clients

- CPA or EA preferred
- At least three years of accounting experience, managing multiple clients preferred
- Experience working with small businesses (specifically closely held pass-through entities)
- Experience with accrual / GAAP reporting and workpapers Experience with preparing and advising on small business taxes (Schedule C, S-Corp, C-Corp and Partnerships)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills A love for technology and intuitive computer skills
- Ability to take ownership, while realizing when it’s time to reach out for help
- A deep understanding of the financial statements; the relationship between them, what it all means, and the ability to explain the numbers to clients in their language
- Strong excel skills; you don’t need to know how to build macros but if a string of formulas goes awry you should be able to troubleshoot and correct Responsibilities Include: Your tasks in this role will vary day to day. Our client has built-in, recurring deadlines that will need to be met. They keep routine, but avoid the mundane.
- Record bank, credit card, and merchant account information in the general ledger via bank feeds in the client’s accounting software
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Bank, credit card, merchant account, clearing account, and other balance sheet account reconciliations
- Review data recorded during the period and close the books monthly/quarterly; prepare reports on both a cash and accrual basis
- Create and maintain workpapers for clients
- Bank, credit card, merchant account, and balance sheet account reconciliations Troubleshoot various software integrations (Xero, QBO, HubDoc, Expensify, Zapier, Shopify, Square, Stripe, etc)
- Sales tax preparation
- Tax projections
- Work with various state and federal agencies to register businesses, obtain EINs, register payroll, and respond to notices
- Annual income tax preparation (individual and business)
- Work with clients to obtain necessary information and supporting documents
