What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine and Tooling Development Technician position at McAlister Design?
The Tooling Development Technician is responsible for working closely with the Tooling Development Engineers on building, testing, and modifying tube endformer tooling.
- Set up and try out end-form tooling.
- Modify tooling during development and fabricate parts from blueprints.
- Travel may be required to troubleshoot tooling or for machine tooling support.
- Check parts and run capability studies.
- Support fastener production and short-run production for customers on endformers.
- Pre- and post-coat polishing (after tooling tryout).
- tasks as assigned by the Tooling Development Engineer or Tube Forming Technology Engineering Sales Manager.
- Service and maintain Wauseon Machine equipment (secondary responsibility).
- Support Automation Mechanical Assembly Team (secondary responsibility).
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints.
- Good understanding of machining and tolerance with the ability to check parts and run capability studies.
- Previous experience working with CNC equipment.
- General machinist skills (preferred).
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
