What are the responsibilities and job description for the Set-Up Technician position at McAlister Design?
Wauseon Machine is hiring a Set-Up Technician to work in Plant 3 here in Wauseon.
- This is a production machining position.
- Perform your own set-ups, operate, and program the machine. (Mastercam - open to other programs)
- First Shift (Flexible on start times - 7 AM - 5 PM roughly)
Core Responsibilities:
- Review drawings and specifications of a particular product and plan the production process, including where and how to cut the work piece, the correct tools and materials for the job and the sequence of steps to follow in production of the product.
- Problem solve and make decisions on ways to decrease cycle times and efficiency of setups.
- Perform the machining operations, watch for problems in the production process, and check the accuracy of the finished piece against drawings using calibrated measuring tools.
- Work as a team in the machine shop with tooling, inspection and other production and assembly departments.
- Safely run and maintain machines as needed.
- Assist in machine maintenance and repair per prescribed PM schedules.
- Other duties as needed where skills match (assembly, maintenance, tooling).
- Setup and troubleshoot machine operation.
Qualifications:
- Ability to set-up and operate CNC mills and lathes in a production setting.
- Programming and trouble-shooting experience.
- Strong math abilities (decimals, fractions, etc.).
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- 2 years of experience running CNC mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machines (preferred).
- Knowledge of milling and turning operations, including G-code (preferred).
- CAD/CAM experience (preferred).
- GD&T experience (preferred).
