Position Description:
Our team of Field Safety Managers work with foremen, superintendents and project managers to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures. Managers maintain a visible presence in the field, visiting job sites and communicating with employees throughout the day by addressing safety inquiries, checking employee PPE, and completing incident investigations. They assist in the achievement of profitability and productivity goals. Managers report to the Safety Director.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. McAninch provides a company vehicle as part of the compensation package for this position.
Job Requirements:
- Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Advises Safety Director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Plans and implements training for employees on worksite safety practices.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- Performs safety surveys and inspections.
- Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying possible causes and hazards.
- Accompany personnel to job sites to perform drug tests.
- Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.
- Manage inspection of job sites, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe working conditions.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in Spanish and English required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental and/or occupational health and safety related field.
- At least 3 years experience with OSHA, First Aid/CPR, Confined Spaces, DOT, and/or Excavation Safety in the construction industry preferred.
- CHST or CSP preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be available to travel overnight when necessary (less than 10%).
- Experience writing detailed reports and procedures and documenting investigations.
- Experience presenting to and training small groups on safety procedures and regulations. Able to effectively respond to questions from groups, managers, and customers on topics presented.
- Excellent computer and communication skills.
- Ability to work outside, including in hot, cold and wet conditions.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by the Safety Director.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays (typically on call) as necessary based on project load.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs and/or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
