Position Overview:
The Director of Planning will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of planning, zoning, and entitlement processes for single-family residential projects. This role will involve strategic collaboration with internal teams, local governments, and community stakeholders to ensure successful project approvals and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land use planning, a strong understanding of zoning regulations, and a proven track record of managing entitlement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the planning and entitlement process for single-family residential projects from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction teams to develop site plans that meet project goals and comply with local regulations.
- Interface with local government officials, planning commissions, and community groups to advocate for project approvals and address any concerns.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of zoning regulations, land use policies, and development codes to identify potential impacts on projects.
- Develop and implement strategies for community engagement and stakeholder communication to foster positive relationships.
- Prepare and present planning proposals, reports, and recommendations to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze trends in residential planning, zoning, and land use to inform project strategies and ensure competitive advantage.
- Manage a team of planning professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations to promote professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in planning, zoning, and entitlement, with a focus on single-family residential development.
