Job Summary:
We are seeking a caring and dedicated Personal Support and Companion to join our team. The successful candidate will provide personalized care and companionship to individuals with disabilities, helping them maintain their independence and enhance their quality of life. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, offering emotional support, and promoting a safe and engaging environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide personalized care and support to clients with disabilities, respecting their dignity and preferences.
Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Help with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
Support clients with mobility, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, using mobility aids, and repositioning.
Accompany clients to medical appointments, social activities, and errands.
Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
Administer medications and follow care plans as directed by healthcare professionals.
Monitor and report changes in clients' health, behavior, or needs to the appropriate healthcare providers.
Engage clients in meaningful activities and conversations to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Provide companionship and build trusting relationships with clients and their families.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided and any incidents or concerns.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in home health aide or personal support worker training preferred.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting and transferring clients.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to pass a background check and provide references.
