Direct Care Professional

General Duties:

Provide residents with routine daily assistance concerning hygiene and daily normal living conditions in accordance with current Federal and state guidelines, local standards and regulations that govern the ICF/MR facility to assure the highest degree of quality care that can be provided to our residents at all times. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphases, as well as a calm environment.

Specific Duties:

• Familiarize yourself with residents programs and behavior plans.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
• Ensure that resident rights are respected at all times.
• Assist clients with learning Adult Daily Living Skills (i.e. bathing, oral hygiene, family style dining, etc.)
• Maintain a normal atmosphere.
• Be cordial, helpful and work as a team.
• Attend and participate in scheduled training.
• Provide continuous active treatment.
• Ensure home is kept in a clean and orderly manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members and visitors. Must have patience, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult situations. Ability to document accurately and promptly the progress of all assigned clients. Ability to provide training to the residents as outlined in the IPP.

Education, Training & Experience:

Valid Oklahoma Drivers License. High School Diploma or GED. Must be certified by an approved Nurses Aide training program, DDCA program, or be eligible to enter such a program and pass a state approved competency evaluation within 120 days from date of employment.
