What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Warranty Superintendent position at McCarthy Building Co?
JOB SUMMARY
To perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance or repairs safely and efficiently for assigned solar power facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance or repairs on equipment as scheduled.
- Respond to dispatches to sites for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions / failures or repairs.
- Document progress and information pertaining to work orders.
- Conduct site inspections documenting all findings and images in report.
- Prepare timely reports of issues including failure cause and remediation.
- Record time as required in software systems.
- Maintain inventory and records of tools, calibration dates, communicating maintenance, replenishments or replacements are needed.
- Maintain inventory of materials and consumables, communicating and submitting requests or orders for replenishments.
- Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
- Perform work independently and/or in work crews.
- Travel to sites as requested. Long-distance or overnight travel will be required.
- Ability to supervise contractors in the field and ensure safe execution of job
- Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
- Participate in meetings, in person or remotely.
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, pulling of material weighing 50 lbs.
- Ability to squat, crawl and work in awkward positions and confined spaces.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders, upper/lower back, visual acuity, depth, and color perception.
- Knowledge of basic electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Understanding of general workplace safety and ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.
- Excellent hands-on abilities with strong technical skills.
- Strong people skills.

Minimum Experience and Special Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in a power plant or PV Solar O&M/EPC experience.
Work Environment
- Normal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high humidity areas.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
- Requires use of personal protective safety equipment (i.e., respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, and more).
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Occasionally requires lifting to perform duties and responsibilities.
