Position Summary:

Serves as key person onsite ensuring operational excellence and is responsible for the commissioning, diagnosis, and repair of environmental-control systems, utilizing knowledge of electronics, direct digital control, airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, and control techniques. May also be responsible for hardware and software design activities for building automation systems, utilizing engineering principles and practices for work on assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provides subject matter expertise and supervision of PLC design, programming, end-to-end testing, startup, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects
- Oversee design and implementation of integrated electrical and control systems
- Oversees specification of various hardware components such as instrumentation, PLCs, communication systems, and industrial control panels
- Oversees the design and configuration of PLC/SCADA networks, as well as the generation of test procedures and forms.
- In conjunction with the team, holds responsibility for project schedule and takes the lead in developing, executing, and maintaining the schedule through closeout; including coordinating the team’s workload, schedules, time off, etc.
- Leads and mentors a team of engineers and technical resources to build a strong, capable, project delivery team; works collaboratively with engineering, design, production, and field service staff
- Plans and analyzes assigned projects, establishes schedules and project parameters, and sets procedures to accomplish system objectives, including complex contracting applications
- Assists the Project Manager and sales team with estimating by providing technical expertise
- Grow abilities in overall project management skillset through support of the Project Manager. Actively help in development of, monitoring and communicating the project plan to the team and managing install partners and other team members to ensure successful outcomes.
- Assist with Accounting activities in managing the project budget, ordering materials, tracking expenses, getting paid, paying others, and profit projections in support of the Project Manager. Manage and be responsible for timely and regular job cost maintenance.
- Provide master programming and controls design expertise and oversight to the rest of the project team to ensure the project is implemented and functioning per the design.
- Provide subject matter expertise and supervision of controls design, programming, end to end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects. This may include performing portions of the work.
- Manage SSQP process by identifying quality and testing requirements and documenting successful completion. Assist with quality control of O&M manuals after completion of the installation of the project.
- Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
- Examines and reviews contracts and estimates by performing risk analysis and developing risk plans.
- Assists the Project Manager with the project schedule, RFQs, cash-flow management, change order management, obtaining acceptance and timely sign-off of the project by the customer.
- Oversees the following: preparation of material and vendor orders; recording the receipt of materials and approving payments.
- Assists in qualifying subcontractor proposals; supervises work of project assigned staff, subcontractors and installers.
- Ensures that quality standards are maintained for assigned projects.
- Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff.
- Documents work by completing paperwork on each job, including daily time, progress, and duration; and maintaining files.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and provide training to team members, ensuring each individual develops to their fullest potential; communicate ongoing performance feedback to project staff through annual performance reviews, as well as regular one-on-one conversations.
- Keeps current on all McCarthy projects concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of PLC systems.
- Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issues and procured assets by participating in the THA process, and enforce the program when onsite and through managing documentation.
- Meet with key clients to ensure that we are meeting or exceeding their expectations to participate in driving our growth with them
- Provide technical support to project teams and customers and assists in training and developing staff
- Understand core values and demonstrate them in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- 5 years of experience in a PLC project engineering environment required
- 3 years of dedicated project management experience preferred
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Programming, Information Systems, or similar technical studies is preferred
- Has knowledge of standard engineering practices and procedures
- Has the ability to develop PLC and HMI programs within one or more languages (Schneider Electric, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, etc.)
- Has experience with process control instrumentation
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans is required
- Ability to travel as necessary, including overnight stays
- Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn and a desire to excel
- Self-motivated and can work well with others

- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule

- Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
- Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction

- Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
- This position is occasionally physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders

- Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 300lb total weight limit
- Must be able to maneuver access areas as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal
- Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet
- This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment, and other variable environmental conditions based on location
