Summary/Objective
The Senior ME-HVAC Engineer/Project Manager plans and executes projects according to strict deadlines, quality control measures, and within budget, assuring the project satisfies company and client goals. This starts with writing or contributing to successful proposals that clearly outline the Scope, Assumptions, Exclusions, Deliverables, and Pricing that establishes the work to be done at a price that will achieve company profitability goals. Once a project is awarded, the PM acquires the appropriate resources and coordinates the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The position oversees quality control throughout its life cycle and provides technical guidance to the project team.
Main Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Direct and manage MEP project development from beginning to end, from RFP through proposal preparation and delivery, follow-up, award, kickoff (external and internal), design phases, construction phases, to closure.
2. Manage projects to deliver satisfaction to the client, profitability to the company, and learning and development opportunities to team members.
3. Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
4. Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
5. Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
6. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and other stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion throughout the project.
7. Oversee preparation of design documents and construction documents in keeping with the firm’s design philosophy. That philosophy is to provide the client not only what is necessary from a permitting standpoint, but also to provide the client with a set of documents which will allow the successful bidder to construct the project efficiently and with minimal changes in scope of work.
8. Integration and detailed understanding of multiple key factors should be considered during the course of design: The following is brief list of some of the key factors:

9. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel throughout the project.
10. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team and with the client throughout the project.
11. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
12. Plan, schedule, and track project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
13. Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
14. Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
15. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
16. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
17. Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
18. Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
19. Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
20. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
21. Work with sales and marketing team to close new project contracts and develop new client opportunities.
22. Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. PE License in PA required (multiple states desired).
- Minimum of five (5) years as a HVAC Project Engineer with increasing project management responsibilities
- Experience with and knowledge of various types of construction and design projects
- Experience with design software such as but not limited to AutoCad, Revit, etc.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated background in plan production and project execution
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
