McConkey Transportation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Manager to oversee daily operations within our shop. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and a passion for vehicle maintenance, school bus experience is a plus! As the Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily shop activities, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Responsible for the onboarding and offboarding of mechanics.
- Manage and be the main point of contact for all shop personnel and contract mechanics.
- Work in the office and assist mechanics in the shop, when necessary.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and inspection processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and quality control.
- Maintain all maintenance records on vehicles.
- Run reports as requested.
- Maintain inventory of tools and supplies, ordering as necessary to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Implement best practices for shop safety and cleanliness, conducting regular inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Develop a monthly maintenance schedule for all vehicles.
- Be the point of contact for all drivers with maintenance issues or concerns.
Experience
- Proven experience in a mechanical or automotive environment is essential.
- Experience with school buses is a plus but not required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices and procedures.
- Experience in managing or supervising a team is preferred but not required.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
