POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the execution, under the direction of the Investor Relations Director, of Investor Relations (IR) & Investor Services (IS) strategy and programs that enhance McCormick's image and reputation among its constituencies, both the institutional and retail investment community as well as employees. This includes involvement in preparing the external, as well as internal, communication materials for the SVP of Corporate Strategy and IR, CEO, CFO, and other Management Committee executives to use for quarterly earnings calls, acquisitions, annual report, investor meetings, conferences, and ad-hoc questions. Internal communications responsibility for summarizing relevant external events, such as industry news, peer earnings and announcements and providing to Management Committee and BOD as well as ownership and communication of the consensus models and shareholder ownership.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for developing and preparing executive level reporting for the McCormick Management Committee, and BOD as necessary on McCormick’s investors, including factors affecting the stock price, trading activity, financial and ESG performance vs. peer companies and shareholder ownership. This also includes maintaining consensus models and communicating them to management including analyses of consensus versus actuals.
- Participate in preparing the communication materials for McCormick's quarterly financial results, which include conference call script and presentation, press release, audit committee deck and internal communication materials. (e.g., employee letter and general meeting presentation). Includes the coordination, preparation, and communication of materials to provide IR and McCormick leadership industry perspective, sell-side sentiment, and reference materials to effectively handle external inquiries. Proactively address issues and participating in responding to investors, as deemed necessary.
- Manage IR processes including technical aspects of the quarterly conference call, annual report, proxy statement, annual shareholders meeting, analyst/industry conferences, investor visits, stock transfers & shareholder recordkeeping and non-deal roadshows. This includes project management, direction of any associated internal resources as well as external providers, development of presentations and executive preparation materials.
- Develop and advance the information available to investors via the company’s IR website. Keep the McCormick IR content management information system current, as applicable, for both voting and non-voting shareholders. As applicable, under the direction of the IR Director, represent McCormick to shareholders, research analysts and potential investors through formal meetings and phone calls.
- Manage or participate in the routine monthly, quarterly, and year-end IR accounting, forecast and budget activities. Activities could relate to cost centers, compensation committee activities, equity awards and stock compensation, shares outstanding, dividend analysis and payments and the applicable tax related activities or reporting associated with these activities.
- Develop core competencies as well as IR technical knowledge of the financial markets and NYSE requirements as well as equity transactions and processes. Manage IR liaison processes as needed between shareholders and any applicable outside agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/BA Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA preferred
- 8 years progressive financial/business experience with demonstrated sound accounting knowledge
- CPA Preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with external and internal customers
- High degree of ownership and professional commitment
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in high pressure, sensitive situations within strict timelines
- Broad knowledge of McCormick and the ability to speak to it externally
- Investor Relations, Research Analyst and/or Equity accounting experience a plus
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products; FactSet experience a plus
- Highly detail oriented, self-starter who can work both independently, with a team and with internal partners as well as external vendors and shareholder representatives (e.g., attorneys, financial planners, foundations, etc.)
- Ability to influence without formal authority
- Initiative to recommend process changes to improve efficiency. Required to work with all employees of all levels with highly sensitive and confidential compensation information.
