POSITION OVERVIEW
The Quality Systems Manager II is responsible for the development, implementation and auditing of Quality Systems and Food Safety Programs for all departments in multiple facilities including manufacturing plants and warehouses. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Systems Manager may manage direct reports and ensure compliance to McCormick policies, procedures and standards as well as Regulatory and Customer requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for implementation and maintenance of McCormick Food Safety Program and Quality Systems Policies and Procedures for multiple facility locations and sites.
- Ensures that each facility has appropriate GFSI systems in place, such as Food Safety Enhancement /Pre-Requisite Program documentation, verifications and validations.
- Develops Quality Systems programs in compliance with McCormick Policies, Procedures and Standards as required.
- .Oversight of Quality Systems across varied product platforms and technologies contributing a significant portion of the network Key Performance Indicators and customer impact and claims management. This oversight includes governance and project management of the Food Defense and Food Safety Teams.
- Responsible for high level complex problem solving and resolution of facility, program or product non-conformance at multiple levels and disciplines. Will ensure food safety by conducting/supervising internal audits, identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and working across multiple disciplines to ensure execution of corrective actions.
- Provides feedback and resolves non-conformances or issues by identifying and presenting solutions using influence, negotiation, technical, regulatory and McCormick Program and Standard expertise.
- Facilitates third party and regulatory audits for facilities (manufacturing and warehouse). Maintains documentation of all Quality Programs to assist and support Customer Audits.
- Required to make strategic purchases to maintain quality systems and manage any implementation projects related to the purchase
- Leads team through new concepts, programs and procedures. Coordinates Plant activities and training as they relate to McCormick Food Safety and Quality Systems Programs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BSc/BA in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or relevant science discipline
- 5 years of Food manufacturing QC experience. Understanding GFSI/FSEP,food processing requirements and government food safety regulations. Industry certifications (i.e SQF Practitioner , ASQ auditor or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently and manage direct reports
- Flexibility in work hours, good organizational, excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to influence and negotiate across multiple disciplines at all employee and management levels internally and externally.
- Communication with upper management, regulatory inspectors and customers can be frequent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAP experience preferred
