Job Title: Printing Press Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Press Operator to join our team. The Press Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. The ideal candidate will have experience in make-ready, preventative maintenance, and production run assignments. The Press Operator will ensure that quality is to the highest standards, press waste is efficiently controlled and managed, production schedules are met as required, and safety procedures are enforced.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate assigned equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and guidelines.
• Perform all tasks according to the production schedule, and ensure work conducted in the production area is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
• Examine job instructions to determine details such as quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, and special printing instructions.
• Perform make-ready tasks such as installing plates, adjusting rollers, and setting up cutting and folding equipment.
• Ensure that all printed materials meet quality standards by monitoring ink density, registration, and color.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, replacing worn parts, and adjusting settings.
• Manage press waste by monitoring and controlling ink and paper usage.
• Maintains a neat and well-organized work area.
• Meet production schedules by monitoring progress, adjusting settings, and resolving equipment malfunctions.
• Enforce safety procedures by wearing protective gear, following safety guidelines, and reporting any safety hazards.

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
• Proven experience operating printing presses is a plus.
• Willing to learn new printing techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to read and interpret job instructions and specifications.
• Ability to perform make-ready tasks and adjust equipment settings.
• Ability to monitor and control quality and waste.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills
• Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
