To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be a current student enrolled at McDaniel College. This position is open to both work study and campus employment students.
This position will begin Fall 2025. TAs are needed for General Chemistry 1, 2, and Organic Chemistry 1.

Duration of Appointment: 8/11/2025 - 5/15/2026
Scope: This position is for students who have satisfactorily completed the designated Chemistry course (Lecture and Lab) previously. The student will assist the instructor of one of the offered Chemistry Lab sections (usually 1-4 pm with the possibility of 7-10 pm when offered).

This position requires sitting and standing for long periods of time, as well as some bending and stooping. This position does have some limited lifting involved but not more than 30 pounds at a time. Quite a bit of finger/hand dexterity is involved regarding mixing chemicals, setting up reactions, and cleaning glassware. Ability to work with chemicals on regular basis.

Responsibilities
- Be present for the assigned lab section on time or early every week.
- Refresh on lab protocols and course material before each lab experiment.
- Assist and mentor students inside (and outside, as needed) the laboratory setting.
- Maintain up-to-date Laboratory Safety Training.
- Know and follow all safety regulations as dictated by the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Chemistry Department.
- Ensure all students are following safety regulations as dictated by the Chemical Hygiene Plan and the Chemistry Department.
- Maintain a clean lab environment and assist with clean-up whenever asked.
- TA's may be asked to host external sessions to assist students, this will be up to the TA discretion, and they will be compensated for all logged time doing such tasks.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate at McDaniel College
- Must have achieved at least a B- in the lecture and satisfactorily passed the lab for the course which you will TA.
