Job Summary:
The Pipe Crew Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a crew in the installation of underground utilities, including storm drains, sanitary sewers, and water mains. This position ensures that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a pipe crew in the installation of underground utility piping.
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications to ensure proper installation.
- Coordinate daily job site activities, including assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Inspect work for quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and pipe lasers.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Troubleshoot issues related to pipe installation and resolve problems as they arise.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, including crew time, materials used, and job progress.
- Train and mentor crew members to improve skills and productivity.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground utility installation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of pipe laying techniques, trenching, backfilling, and soil compaction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA and industry safety standards.
- Proficiency in operating excavation and pipe installation equipment.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent heavy lifting and operation of machinery.
- Fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
