A Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production operations in a job shop environment where a wide variety of customized products are made, requiring flexible scheduling and resource allocation to meet individual customer orders with diverse specifications and deadlines.
Essential Duties
- Create and coordinate a detailed production schedule to manage multiple, often simultaneous customer orders with varying priorities and due dates considering material needs and labor capacity.
- Optimize personnel to efficiently complete diverse jobs often requiring quick adjustments based on changing
- Ensuring that each product meets specific quality standards and customer specifications throughout the production
- Monitoring production costs, identifying potential bottlenecks, and taking corrective actions to maintain
- Tracking progress of individual jobs through the production process ensuring timely completion and accurate
- Supervising and motivating a team of skilled workers across multiple production locations, providing necessary training and
- Facilitate production meetings to review progress, discuss challenges, and brainstorm solutions, ensuring active participation from all team members and stakeholders.
- Optimize manufacturing processes and techniques for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, increased product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Cross functional collaboration between Sales and Operations
- Develop and maintain training and preventative maintenance schedules
- Develop, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes, and
- 5 years' work-related hands-on and tactical leadership experience preferably in the manufacturing sector
- Problem Solving skills to troubleshoot production and develop solutions to overcome challenges
- Proven experience in quality control techniques
- Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary
- Proven success working with all levels of
- Ability to manage, inspire and motivate a diverse team to achieve production goals
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternative ideas and be able to bring the best idea
- Proficient PC skills including Word and Excel
- Overnight travel up to 25% may be required.
