Job Summary
McFarland Construction is seeking a dedicated Human Resource Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting the overall HR function, focusing on recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR best practices and experience within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities include :
Manage full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring for office, and field positions.
Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.
Promote an inclusive workplace culture aligned with company values.
Assist managers in conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Provide data and insights for HR reporting (e.g., turnover rates, recruitment metrics).
Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies. Provide support and information to employees regarding their benefits.
Identify training needs and coordinate employee development plans with McFarland Core Academy.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, manage HR documentation, and ensure data integrity.
Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Director of HR.
Oversees and maintains optimal function of the HRIS, which may include installation, customization, development, maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules.
Provides IT technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users.
Collaborates with Director of HR and executive leadership to identify system improvements and enhancements; recommends and implements solutions.
Performs other duties as required.
Education & Additional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and / or equivalent experience.
5 years of HR experience, preferably within the construction industry.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
