Position Description: Staff Accountant
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role will involve financial reporting including month end close across multi-sites, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Job responsibilities:
General Ledger Accounting:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Maintains the general ledger and makes necessary journal entries.
- Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and completes month end close processes.
- Reconciles bank accounts and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Assists Controller in budgeting process as needed.
- Assists Controller in compiling data for annual tax returns.
- Sales and Use tax filings and coordination using specialized software.
- Assists with accounting for subsidiaries and new acquisitions as needed.
- Backup for accounting operations team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax and other government reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Excel.
- Proficient with ERP software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required
- Minimum of 3 years related experience required
- Syteline ERP experience a plus
- Experience in accounting for manufacturing environment
- Cost accounting experience a plus
- CPA preferred
