Seattle civil litigation firm seeking a full-time legal assistant to work with our team in our downtown Seattle office.
We have a busy practice and a great team but one of our lead assistants is retiring and the senior partner needs an experienced assistant. The case load covers a wide variety of subject matters and in various courts throughout the state in both Superior Court and Federal Court. A strong background in court filings is required as is brief formatting and submittals. Our practice includes primarily personal injury defense, sexual abuse, wrongful death and some construction related claims. We are a small firm with a very active trial practice. A successful hire must be capable of hitting the ground running. Although we practice litigation of both defense and plaintiff civil cases the position, we are seeking to fill would be predominantly insurance defense.
The ideal candidate would have knowledge of filing in all Washington counties and be familiar with each county’s rules and procedures. They would have prior experience as a litigation assistant and/or paralegal including responsibility for the firm calendar. One should be knowledgeable working with document databases, drafting pleadings, preparing discovery and client communications. We are looking for someone with excellent writing and research skills and with experience managing large document production and preparing cases up to and through trial.

Position Requirements:
- 5 years of direct experience as a litigation legal assistant or paralegal.
- Prior experience with document databases, preparation and management.
- Experience overseeing multiple case workflows simultaneously and managing large/complex projects.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong skills utilizing document review systems (PACER, LexisNexis, Westlaw).
- Excellent writing and research skills.
- Experience coordinating reviews of large document productions.
- Demonstrated ability as an independent thinker and self-starter.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills for productive interaction with multiple parties associated with each matter.
- Extremely responsive to deadlines.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment, make practical decisions, and apply ability and knowledge to situations while seeking direction when needed.
- Ability to effectively respond to urgent situations that require a quick turnaround.

Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $70,000 Depending on Experience.
