Job Overview
We’re looking for an outgoing, self-directed, and motivated person looking to join our firm and grow into the paralegal position. No previous legal experience required. We are willing to train you and help you grow into this rewarding and exciting professional position, but you MUST be willing to learn and grow.
Good written and verbal communication skills are a must to as the legal assistant/ paralegal will draft legal documents for clients and communicate with clients about the drafted documents. Proficiency with Word and Excel is expected; knowledge of CLIO, PowerPoint, and Adobe is a plus. You must be comfortable learning other software programs.
You will be trained and mentored, but if you are above putting paper in the copier or setting up the conference room, this is NOT the job for you. We’re a small, tight-knit group and everyone pitches in wherever needed. Ability to multi-task and a positive can-do attitude are required.
Duties
- Conducting intake for new clients and scheduling appointments for attorneys
- Preparing estate planning documents, deeds, and business formations
- Preparing and filing documents with state and federal courts
- Administrative tasks including but not limited to filing, organizing, answering phone calls, printing, scanning documents, checking and delivering mail, updating litigation calendar and to-do list, and requesting medical records
- Communicating with clients
- Proof-reading documents
- Maintaining client files for active cases and ensure files can be quickly and easily located
Qualifications
- At least one year to two years of professional/ office experience
- Highly motivated fast learner who is able to work without constant supervision
- Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience in estate planning, probate, litigation, real estate, or business law highly preferred
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with superb attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and listening skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Adobe required
- Experience with CLIO preferred
