Since 1991, McGill has been transforming organic waste into premium compost. We process materials such as yard waste (leaves, sticks, etc.), food waste, wastewater treatment sludges, and byproducts like tobacco stalks and soybean residues. These materials undergo blending, grinding, screening, and curing to produce compost, which is then sold to farmers, resellers, golf courses, and athletic fields.
McGill Environmental Systems is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Plant Manager to oversee daily operations at our New Hill, NC facility. The ideal candidate will manage production activities, ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and maintain operational efficiency while fostering a productive and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and oversee daily plant operations.
- Supervise and develop production employees.
- Ensure maintenance and servicing of all equipment.
- Manage parts and supplies inventory.
- Administer and enforce company environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies and permits.
- Control expenses and assume P&L responsibility for the site.
- Ensure quality product production and on-time delivery to customers.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and the public.
- Hire, train, develop, and discipline production employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and regulatory documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and Wasteworks.
- Strong mathematical skills, including ability to work with proportions, percentages, and measurements.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data for effective decision-making.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in plant operations, management, or a related field.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Must occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
