McGlinchey Stafford is a welcoming and dynamic business defense law firm with a national presence in commercial litigation. We are excited to find an attorney with 6 years of experience in business litigation, commercial litigation, and/or financial services litigation to join our Birmingham office!
We are looking for candidates who enjoy diving into detailed legal briefings and have experience drafting briefs for dispositive motions, trial motions, and post-judgment motions and appeals, as well as tackling complex legal issues. We require candidates to be licensed to practice law in Alabama and Tennessee(OR ability to waive into Tennessee without examination), with active licenses in good standing. Requirements of the position:
- 6 years of litigation experience;
- A current license to practice law in the state of Alabama is required, must be active and in good standing;
- A current license to practice law in the state of Tennessee (OR ability to waive into Tennessee without examination) required;
- Experience drafting complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings;
- Experience participating in the development of a strategy for written and deposition discovery;
- To distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product and to work meticulously to ensure the quality of work product; and
- Federal court experience is a plus.
Ideal candidates will also have:
- A state or federal clerkship (this is a plus!);
- Candidates who are admitted and in good standing in additional jurisdictions are preferred, but additional admissions are not required;
- A team mindset while assisting with preparation for trials and evidentiary hearings;
- Confidence in serving as a representative of clients and our firm while meeting and conferring with opposing counsel;
- Excellent research and analytical skills as well as clear and concise verbal and written communication skills;
- An interest in complex briefing and appeals; and
- A demonstrated dedication to client service.
