Position Overview :
McGrath North is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Development & Marketing to drive our marketing, business development, public relations, and client service initiatives. This leadership role is crucial in enhancing our visibility, brand recognition, and client base while supporting revenue growth for the firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in professional services marketing, particularly in a law firm environment, and will possess exceptional leadership and communication skills.
The role involves developing and managing the firm’s business development and marketing strategies, collaborating with practice groups to create tailored plans, and overseeing the annual budget for these initiatives. Key responsibilities include leading public relations efforts, managing advertising campaigns, creating promotional materials, and maintaining the firm’s branding assets. The position also entails managing the website and social media, handling directory profiles and awards submissions, coordinating responses to RFPs, organizing firm events, identifying sponsorship opportunities, and providing training in marketing and business development. Additionally, the role includes supervising support staff and performing other assigned duties.
Qualifications : Education :
College degree, or equivalent, required. Concentration in marketing, business, and / or communications strongly preferred.
Experience :
At least five years in marketing and business development manager / director (or assistant director) role within a professional service environment (law firm experience preferred) with the capacity to comprehend the attorney-client relationship in the context of marketing and business development.
Required Skills :
- Strong leadership and consensus-building abilities.
- Demonstrates initiative, highly organized, able to manage multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Adobe Acrobat Pro, website content management systems and CRM systems.
- Experience in digital marketing including ability to set goals, interpret metrics, and implement projects that will improve visibility.
- Ability to write effectively for public relations and support marketing and business development for the firm and individual attorneys.
- Skill in assessing business development opportunities through market research, and successfully formulating and executing corresponding plans.
- Manage a budget effectively.
