JOB TITLE: Business Development Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Business Development Manager is a hunter whose primary function is to identify new customers and new industries for McGregor Metal to serve. Secondarily, this position is responsible for assisting with existing customers by cultivating relationships and helping to resolve service or part problems if they arise. Lastly, this position will prepare customer quotations for opportunities uncovered and assist with forecasting several times annually.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Director of Sales (since vacant, CEO)
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the use of office equipment, such as computers, telephones, printers, and copiers. Requires normal vision, hearing, and speech range. Prolonged sitting.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Travel required as needed, approximately 30%, either to Springfield, Ohio or to customer plant sites. Hybrid option can be discussed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish account relationships with new customers or new industries to McGregor Metal. Develop and uncover sales leads from prospective customers as well as generate new opportunities from select, current customers. Arrange customer visits to McGregor facilities.
- Generate ~$40 million in quote opportunities annually, with a close rate of $4 million in booked sales or a minimum of 10% of quotes.
- Prepare and review part estimates for labor, material, and sublet costs as needed to establish the customer quote. Review and prepare the quote.
- Work as liaison between customer, production, quality and engineering. Visit customers and their facilities in person, regularly.
- Maintain customer records, files, account information, and changes.
- Resolve customer problems. Works closely with customers to monitor/uncover customer needs, turning these problems/inquiries into new opportunities.
- Assist with annual sales forecasting for purposes of budgeting.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree required (business and/or engineering). Previous sales experience of 15 years or more required. Experience in metal stamping, welding, and assembly preferred.
