McHale Landscape Design is searching for an HR Generalist to add to our team. This is an on-site position that works Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm at our Upper Marlboro, MD office.

McHale Landscape Design is a residential landscape architecture company and design-build firm dedicated to designing and constructing extraordinary residential gardens, pools, outdoor living areas, and home additions. Since 1981, the firm has designed, constructed, and planted residential projects throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia, including more than 300 award-winning landscapes.
What you will do:
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Process onboarding for new hires, including I9 management, benefits administration and 401k program.
- File and maintain all employee files in Paylocity.
- Support HR Director employee relations matters with, ie: investigations, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Oversee all government-related tasks for employees, ie, wage garnishments, unemployment, etc.
- Handle all workers' compensation claims.
- Support all leave management ie: FMLA, LOA, etc.
- Provide guidance to employees around general HR related questions, coordinating with other teams as appropriate
- Review and screen candidate resumes and applications for minimum job requirements; provide hiring manager with resumes and screening results for review and phone interview consideration.
- Assist hiring manager with scheduling and coordination of in-person interviews.
You will be a great fit if you have:
- Higher education (two- or four-year college degree) or equivalent work experience in the Human Resources field.
- Fluent in English and Spanish required. (written and verbal)
- Four or more years of relevant experience in HR and recruiting.
- Demonstrated experience in the landscape or construction industry preferred.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems. Knowledge of Paylocity is preferred
- Professional and proficient communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Superior time management and organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Salary : $55,000 - $70,000
