Adoption Case Manager Job Summary
MCHS Family of Services is seeking an Adoption Case Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing children and families, placing children for adoption, and providing follow-up services and supervision to the adoptive family.
About the Position
- Assess children and families to determine their suitability for adoption.
- Provide training, casework, and support to ensure services are completed.
- Place children for adoption and provide follow-up services and supervision to the adoptive family.
- Participate in the agency's adoptive home recruitment program.
- Formulate case plans, write case reports, and maintain case records.
- Represent the agency in court and testify to the progress of cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a human behavioral science such as Social Work or related discipline.
- One to three years' experience in a social services agency required.
- Masters of Social Work (MSW) with experience working in an adoptions program preferred.
- Child Welfare Training Institute (CWTI) training preferred.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed include principles and practices of social work, including the NASW Code of Ethics, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services policies and procedures, effectively engaging children and adults, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, exercising professional judgment, and appropriately handling sensitive and confidential situations.
