Job Description:
McHugh Neurosurgery is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler, with additional duties in radiology authorization, to join our team. This critical role ensures smooth coordination of patient surgeries and procedures, additionally assisting with managing the radiology authorization process. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical office setting, be comfortable with multitasking, and possess excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Surgical Scheduling:
Coordinate and schedule surgeries and procedures for neurosurgical patients, working closely with surgeons, patients, and hospital staff.
Confirm surgery dates, times, and locations with patients and provide pre-surgical instructions.
Maintain accurate records of surgery schedules and ensure timely follow-ups with patients for pre-operative and post-operative care.
Act as the point of contact for patients with surgery-related questions, addressing concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Radiology Authorizations:
Obtain and track authorizations for radiology imaging (MRIs, CT scans, X-rays) and other diagnostic tests required for patient care.
Communicate with insurance companies, providing necessary documentation to ensure approvals.
Follow up on pending or denied authorizations, addressing any issues to avoid delays in patient care.
Maintain detailed records of authorization status and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure patients are scheduled promptly for imaging services.
Patient Communication:
Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, and hospital staff, ensuring clear and timely communication regarding surgery and radiology procedures.
Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries related to scheduling, insurance, and authorizations.
Administrative Support:
Assist with maintaining accurate patient records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Coordinate with other administrative and clinical team members to streamline processes and support the overall efficiency of the practice.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.20 - $24.95 per hour
