Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in supporting construction accounting processes and assisting in the smooth management of job costing, reporting, and financial tracking. Dedication to upholding compliance with relevant laws and regulations while supporting the administrative and operational needs of the company is crucial.
Work Responsibilities:
- Project Financial Monitoring: Track project spending, review cost reports, and recommend improvements to the bidding process.
- Job Cost Reporting: Generate detailed reports including Accounts Payable/Receivable, Work in Progress, and Job Costs to ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Cost Management: Maintain and monitor project cost data, including committed costs, billed amounts, and subcontractor billing progress.
- Invoice and Payment Processing: Manage vendor invoices, process payments, and ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.
- Project Setup & Updates: Set up new projects in the accounting system, including budgets, forecasts, and key project details.
- Budget Tracking & Analysis: Assist Project Managers with cost category management (budgets, commitments, actuals) and perform earned value measurements for each project.
- Cross-functional Support: Provide backup to the Controller and assist the accounting team as needed, contributing to month-end closing and audit support.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (required).
- 2 years of experience in construction accounting or real estate development; knowledge of cost controls, job costing, and profit/loss accounting.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, and QuickBooks (construction software preferred).
- Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes, financial reporting, and vendor management.
- Understanding of job costing principles specific to construction projects, including labor, material, and overhead allocations.
- Ability to pass background and drug screening.
