Project Accountant

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and driven by project success? We’re looking for a Project Accountant to join our client's team and play a key role in tracking the financial performance of projects from start to finish. You’ll collaborate closely with project managers, ensure billing accuracy, monitor variances, and help streamline the flow of critical financial information.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and maintain projects, cost codes, and cost estimates within the accounting system

Approve the transfer of expenses in and out of project accounts

Review and approve supplier invoices related to projects

Generate and distribute all project-related billing and required customer documentation

Work with Project Managers to investigate and resolve unpaid contract billings

Perform monthly reconciliation of project billings, revenue, costs, and WIP to the general ledger

Analyze and report on project WIP, billings, and profitability to management each month

Close out projects upon completion and final billing

Perform monthly GL account reconciliations as assigned

Complete assigned month-end and year-end closing activities on schedule

Assist with internal and external audits as required

Handle additional ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Controller
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred - or equivalent experience

Proven experience in project accounting or a similar role

Strong understanding of financial principles and project-based accounting

Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
