Special Projects Coordinator

SUMMARY

Job Summary:

The Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for supporting and assisting with projects that fall outside of the company’s typical scope of work. This role involves coordinating various specialized tasks, including but not limited to fabrication, welding, and specialized tool/parts development, while working closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful project execution. The Special Projects Coordinator will focus on project organization, scheduling, documentation, and communication to facilitate operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination:

• Assist in managing special projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Support the development of project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with internal departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Track project progress and provide regular updates and reports to senior management.

Fabrication & Welding Support:

• Assist in overseeing welding and fabrication projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Work with fabrication teams to support the development of custom parts, tools, or components necessary for projects.
• Help implement quality control measures for fabricated parts.

Process Improvement & Innovation:

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through research and documentation of best practices.
• Support the testing and implementation of new processes, materials, and equipment.
• Assist in researching and recommending advanced tools and technologies to enhance the company’s capabilities.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

• Work closely with estimating, engineering, and field teams to support project needs and logistics.
• Assist procurement in sourcing necessary materials and equipment.
• Provide training assistance and documentation on new tools, technologies, and project-specific requirements.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure all special projects adhere to OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
• Support the implementation of best practices for workplace safety in welding and fabrication environments.
• Assist in conducting risk assessments and safety audits as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, construction, fabrication, or a related industry.
• Familiarity with welding and metal fabrication processes.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to track multiple projects.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements for welding and fabrication. 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction management, or a related field.
• Welding certifications (AWS, ASME, or equivalent) are a plus.
• Experience working in data center construction or industrial manufacturing environments.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a construction or fabrication environment, including standing for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in areas that may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary.
