McKendree University, located in Lebanon, IL, invites internal McKendree applicants only for the position of Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. This is an on-campus, full-time position and is eligible for a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President (AVPSA) for Student Affairs provides leadership and support to advancing the University mission and the strategic priorities of the division of student affairs. The AVPSA oversees the Office of Residence Life, Director of Campus Activities and Recreation, Director of Speech and Debate, Student Government Association and serves as a University’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator works closely with the Title IX Coordinator overseeing institutional compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act (“Title IX”), the Violence Against Women Act Reauthorization of 2013 (“VAWA”), the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (“Campus SaVE”), and related state laws. The Title IX Coordinators work closely with University Legal Counsel, the Office of Human Resources, the Office of the Provost, and other University administrators.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs (AVPSA)
- Serves on the Student of Concern Committee.
- Serves as the primary liaison for HOUSE.
- Serve as a rotating on-call professional for residence life crisis situations.
- Serves as a resource person to administrators, faculty, staff, and students regarding general and special conduct issues and assists in ensuring university-wide compliance with the policies and procedures contained in the Student Code of Conduct.
- Works to create and maintain a climate that fosters student learning, engagement, and development while enhancing a strong sense of community.
- Provides leadership and support to advancing the University mission and the strategic priorities of the overall division of student affairs.
- Coordinates programming on topics of inclusiveness, healthy relationships, and wellness, including alcohol and drug education with colleagues across campus.
- Coordinates and represents the Vice President at various campus and community events.
- Serve on college committees as appointed.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
- Reporting
- Collaborates with the University’s Department of Public Safety and the Dean of Students to ensure accuracy in reporting annual crime statistics, as required by the Jeanne Clery Act.
- Communicate with local law enforcement and government agencies to ensure reports are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Completes the annual Illinois Attorney General Report and the Illinois Department of Human Rights survey.
- Leads the development and / or implementation of university climate survey pertaining to sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence and / or stalking.
Deputy Title IX Coordinator

Office environment; 40 hours per week; normally 8 : 00am - 5 : 00pm with some evening and weekend work required.
FLSA Category : Exempt
Salary Range : $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 / Annually
Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
