What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Director, Global Risk Management position at McKesson Corporation?
We are seeking an experienced risk management executive to oversee and manage enterprise-level risk for McKesson, reporting to VP of Global Risk Management.
Responsible for development and execution of effective enterprise-level insurance and risk management framework; coordinates and leads enterprise risk assessment, drives internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute cost-effective risk management strategies to manage global insurance programs, contractual risk transfer, loss mitigation, mergers & acquisitions and diversification priorities.
This role will be expected to exhibit strong leadership and communication skills with cultural adeptness in proactively engaging with key business partners and delivering solutions supporting Company's risk management philosophy.
Set and execute strategy to manage total cost of risk for the company.
Set and achieve strategic objectives in ensuring effective risk management, risk financing, contractual risk transfer and cost containment initiatives for the company.
Lead insurance placements for all lines. Manage all aspects of global insurance placements for all business units, including risk identification, quantification, preparation of underwriting submissions/ material, negotiation of program premium and coverage terms, binder/ policy review, and management of mid-year changes.
Lead M&A support and maintain best practices. Develop and implement new best practices and guidelines to enable successful business outcomes for Risk Management workflow in M&A and Divestiture efforts. Manage due diligence and successful integration of the risk management & insurance function.
Oversee claims management to ensure that claims are resolved timely and effectively. Support business in identifying and driving loss mitigation or recovery opportunities. Keep stakeholders updated on industry claims development and trends.
Promote loss prevention and workplace safety opportunities across organization. Proactively mitigate risk in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders. Support operations in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to protect people, assets and operations.
Lead executive level reporting and communication across the organization, to clearly communicate relevant cost and loss trends, benchmarking, risk analytics, initiatives and progress against company and department goals.
Lead authentically across the organization by promoting a positive environment inclusivity, collaboration and excellence, guided by iLead principles. Develop team members to succeed and lead education of key stakeholders outside the risk management team to build risk awareness within the organization.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education/Training
- Bachelor's degree or a professional accreditation with significant coursework in Risk Management, Finance or other applicable field.
- MBA degree is preferred.
Critical Skills/Business Experience
- 15 years in Insurance/Risk Management leadership roles with significant experience in leading the procurement and negotiation of complex global risks.
- Executive presence and strategic vision to confidently lead across the organization.
- Strong risk & insurance industry expertise and relationships with senior executives of key insurance partners.
- Excellent leadership skills to attract, retain and develop team members.
- Proactive risk management mindset and passion to manage and mitigate risk across an enterprise.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in developing and managing global insurance and loss control programs.
- Technical knowledge of insurance forms and industry best practices.
- Experience in managing complex claims and litigated cases.
- Experience in M&A risk management due diligence and program, culture, and process integration.
- Experience with contract review, standard setting; effective drafting and negotiation skills.
- Experience in creating and delivering effective training on key tenets of risk management.
- Strong leadership and project management skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
- Healthcare, pharma and/or distribution industry risk management experience a plus.
- Adaptable to a changing and dynamic environment.
- Motivated self-starter and effective communicator with ability to direct, influence and motivate others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presence at all levels of the organization.
