Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Assist the preschool supervisor in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of the preschool supervisor.
Essential Functions
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Know and understand the minimum standards and guidelines for daycare center as provided by the Texas Department of Protective and regulatory services and exceed these standards.
Support the children in a classroom environment created to stimulate their emotional, intellectual, and social growth.
Support the implementation of the daily lessons and activities.
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
Communicate with children in a positive manner and encourage the development of self-control.
Supervise the children in all activities.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the MISD Preschool policies and procedures.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Conduct procedures involved with snack time, lunch, playground time and nap time.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as appropriate.
Attend and participate in Child Care Programs staff meetings and conduct site staff meetings as appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED
Cell phone, personal computer, printer, copier, fax machine and any new technology equipment/ devices as acquired by the district.
Equipment related to educational workrooms which includes, but is not limited to, cutting boards, die-cut machines, laminating machine and poster makers.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands
Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written); maintain emotional control under stress.
Adapt to mental stress generated by short deadlines and manual workload.
Adjust work to new programs, sites and ideas.
Ability to operate and learn new technology systems.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Repetitive hand motions.
Prolonged use of computer.
Exposure to computer emissions.
Ability to supervise children (physically, visually and auditorally).
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
Ability to participate in and conduct floor activities with children.
Ability to participate in and conduct large motor activities with the children (i.e. exercises, gym games, etc.).
Ability to move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.

Work as a team member and with peers, teachers, campus personnel and principals; professional demeanor, resourcefulness, communicate effectively with diverse groups and accept supervision; work without day-to-day supervision; regular and punctual attendance at the workplace.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Experience
A minimum of two years working in an Early Childhood environment.
Requirements
Education / Certification:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Must be 18 years of age
A background in Education with knowledge of Early Childhood is desired
Special Knowledge and Skills
Ability to communicate well with children
Experience With Daycare Licensing Preferred
