Join McKinnon Legal as a Legal Assistant, where your duties will include overseeing office communications, such as handling phone calls and emails, managing client intake, scheduling meetings and travel, and ensuring our legal team is informed of approaching deadlines. Our tight-knit team operates collaboratively on-sit. Telecommuting is not an option for this role.
Compensation : 20 - $23 hourly
Responsibilities :
- Ability to follow systems and checklists for meeting the required key performance indicators
- Comfortable on the phone with judicial staff, opposing counsel, and handling urgent client matters
- Experience managing a heavy caseload
- Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines
- Performing client intake into our CRM and scheduling consultations as required
- Coordinating with judicial staff and opposing counsel to calendar trials and evidentiary hearings
- Keeping deadlines, eFiling, assisting the paralegals and attorneys with docket tracking
- Assist with the creation of various litigation documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents as needed
- Use daily time records to properly process client billing with support from the accounting department
- Undertake other duties as needed to ensure the firm operates efficiently
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a law firm or office environment as an assistant or its equivalent
- Must be able to type at least 50 WPM
- Ability to multi-task and move through client workflows quickly
- Collecting and compiling discovery and working closely with paralegals
- Ability to be cross-trained and cover tasks to assist the team
