What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiovascular Technician Intern position at McLaren Health Care Corporation?
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Manager, participates in the completion of cardiac catheterization procedures. Intern is assigned to work in a procedure room with other qualified employees, these are either registered nurses or cardiovascular techs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Selects appropriate equipment and supplies for each physician and type of procedure, observing sterile technique.
- Scrubs and assists physician with diagnostic and interventional procedures. This will be monitored by the preceptor/assigned employees. Once able the intern may participate independently.
- Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots all equipment in the Cardiac Cath, EP, & Vascular Labs
- Recognizes, notifies Physician, & responds to life threatening emergencies including but not limited to hypotensive crisis, vasovagal reactions, cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, stroke, and shock.
- Demonstrates proper use of defibrillator, CPR, cardiac and respiratory arrest procedures.
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have completed one year of two-year accredited cardiovascular Tech training program; has not yet graduated.
- Completion of one semester of clinical rotations as part of the two-year Cardiovascular Program
- BLS Certification
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
