Position Summary :
Prepares patients and transports patients to and from Radiology.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
Prepares patients for transport and transports patient to and from all modalities within Diagnostic Imaging
Moves patients from bed to stretcher or wheelchair within department
Changes linen on stretchers and cleans equipment
Assists with outpatient changing examinations
Interacts with patients while awaiting examinations
Performs other department related duties as assigned
Qualifications : Required :
High School diploma or equivalent
BLS certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred :
- Previous experience / training in patient transportation techniques
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Deals with highly confidential patient information
Requires constant heavy / awkward lifting, bending, twisting, and walking
Job duties require a high level of customer relations skills. Patients are often scared, anxious and in pain when in need of transportation with in the hospital. Consideration and gentleness must always be demonstrated. Effects to put the patients at ease and make them comfortable are constantly expected.
Operates the follow Machinery : information systems computer terminal, stretchers, wheelchairs, lift equipment, basic med pump knowledge
Participates inMedicalCenterand / or departmental quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities as directed through identification of quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of date, implementation of action plans, or related applications
Access to Protected Health Information in any format, whether oral, written, or through electronic information systems will be in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and subject to disciplinary action when misused. Access to electronic information systems for this position is based on criteria found in a pre-determined systems access matrix for classification specific job function, found in HR Policy 580 “Using, Disclosing, and Requesting Only the Minimum Amount of Protected Health Information Necessary”.
