We have an exciting opportunity for an Astromaterials Curation Processor to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will:
- Prepare tools, and cut, chip or band saw astromaterials samples.
- Transfer and weigh samples and track the movement of samples through Curation databases.
- Provide basic petrographic characterization, digital imaging, inventory and cataloging of astromaterials samples.
- Assist visiting Principal Investigators (PI's) in Curation laboratories.
- Prepare astromaterials samples for a variety of geologic analyses.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications:

- A BS degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience is typically required.
- BS degree in geology, physics, chemistry, or a related field.Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate as a member of a team.
- Attention to detail for working with pristine samples and for accurate record keeping.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, and experience inputting data into databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with and/or studying extraterrestrial samples, particularly Apollo or meteorite samples.
- Experience handling delicate samples.
- Experience working in a cleanroom and/or familiarity with ISO 6-7 cleanroom environments and standards.
