Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's of Science degree and 1 year of experience..This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available
Some of your major responsibilities will include:
* Prepare tools, and cut, chip or band saw astromaterials samples.
* Transfer and weigh samples and track the movement of samples through Curation databases.
* Provide basic petrographic characterization, digital imaging, inventory and cataloging of astromaterials samples.
* Assist visiting Principal Investigators (PI's) in Curation laboratories.
* Prepare astromaterials samples for a variety of geologic analyses.
* Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED:
* A BS degree from an accredited engineering school and typically a minimum of one (1) years of related experience
* Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and collaborate as a member of a team.
* Attention to detail for working with pristine samples and for accurate record keeping.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, and experience inputting data into databases.
PREFERRED:
* BS degree in geology, physics, chemistry, or a related field.
* Experience working with and/or studying extraterrestrial samples, particularly Apollo or meteorite samples.
* Experience handling delicate samples.
* Experience working in a cleanroom and/or familiarity with ISO 6-7 cleanroom environments and standards.
* Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
* Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
