What are the responsibilities and job description for the MBC Loudoun - Associate Pastor position at McLean Bible Church?
This is a pastoral role for Mclean Bible Church’s Loudoun County Location (MBC Loudoun) during a significant season of expansion in Loudoun County. The Associate Pastor will provide a combination of pastoral leadership and executive leadership as MBC Loudoun continues to experience high growth, and transitions from a mobile church to a permanent facility positioned in an underserved area of Loudoun County. Additionally, the Associate Pastor will take a leading role in reimagining ministry approaches to effectively reach and impact a post-Christian culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following items describe some of the ways this individual will accomplish this task:
- The balance between pastoral and executive leadership could shift depending on the gifting of the candidate.
Pastoral Leadership:
- Work closely with the Location Pastor (and lay pastors) to provide pastoral leadership for all of MBC Loudoun to be a healthy church (12 Traits) on mission.
- Preach and teach the Word in various ministry settings including worship gatherings and churchwide classes offered at MBC Loudoun.
- Encourage and equip the church family to be disciples who make more disciples in neighborhoods across Loudoun and among nations throughout the world.
- Assist in the care and oversight of the congregation through Church Groups and pastoral counseling.
Executive Leadership:
- Assist in growing a healthy, Christ-exalting, gospel-saturated culture for both staff and serve teams.
- Take a leading role in strategic planning and implementation of a localized strategy consistent with the overall vision, mission, and goals of MBC, as well as MBC distinctives.
- Ensure that the localized ministry strategy aligns with the broader strategies of MBC while addressing the unique needs and opportunities of Loudoun County
- Facilitate the implementation of the localized ministry strategy by working closely with staff and serve teams.
- Regularly evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the localized strategy, making necessary adjustments to ensure church health and mission effectiveness, as well as maintaining alignment with MBC.
- Provide leadership and oversight to staff and serve teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and growth.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Other MINISTRIES/Responsibilities
- Commit to leading a Church Group.
- Assist in overall church leadership by using giftedness to develop effective ministries at MBC Loudoun / Mclean Bible Church.
Qualifications
- A Master of Divinity or its equivalent preferred from an accredited Seminary or School of Theology.
- Minimum of five years of Pastoral leadership experience in a Church setting.
- A passionate disciple of Jesus who abides in Christ and demonstrates the biblical requirements for pastors.
- A proven disciple-maker who, by God’s grace, has made disciples who make disciples.
- A spiritually mature person who demonstrates that maturity in his personal and public life
- A theologically grounded shepherd and teacher who agrees with MBC doctrine and teaching.
- A servant leader who has demonstrated the ability to lead others sacrificially on mission.
- An effective implementor who can execute a vision across the life and ministries of a church.
- A humble learner who continually gains insight and pursues improvement.
- An effective communicator in both speech and writing
