Position Title: Paralegal

Summary
Reports to the Attorney for the District. Works collaboratively with the Attorney for the District in coordinating Federal and State compliance efforts, development of policies, processes, and forms, and supporting District and building administration with a wide variety of legal questions and issues. Coordinates response to Freedom of Information Act requests received by the District and recordkeeping.
Duties
- Gather, review, and redact records and prepare responses to Freedom of Information Act requests
- Assist in formulating the District’s response to Federal and State compliance requirements
- Assist in developing and revising board policies, administrative procedures, and exhibits
- Assist in drafting and updating District forms and website
- Support the District Nondiscrimination and Title IX Coordinator
- Participate in witness interviews and factual discovery
- Conduct legal research and case analysis
- Draft general correspondence
- Monitor, analyze, and comment on new laws, regulations, or cases
- Monitor insurance claims and litigation affecting the District
- Prepare memoranda and legal updates for review based on research from statutes, judicial decisions, law articles and regulations
- Prepare reports and make presentations
- Organize and manage voluminous documents for a variety of tasks and prepare detailed summaries of documents
- Prepare agreements, amendments, and legal documents for attorney review
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 4-year university or college degree is required
- Paralegal certificate or certified paralegal is required
- Prior experience providing paralegal support is preferred
- The ability to maintain confidentiality, excellent interpersonal skills and personal accountability
- Strong organizational and project management skills and significant attention to detail while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled in Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Google Docs and Sheets
- Ability to quickly learn new software systems
- Highly professional with superior verbal and written communication skills
Compensation:
Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision are available.
The starting salary range for this position is $42,000 to $58,000 and is based on education and experience.
