McLean School (mcleanschool.org), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for a Boys Grades 6-8 School Baseball Assistant Coach for the Spring 2025 season, which runs from March through the middle of May.

The Assistant Coach for Boys Grades 6-8 Baseball is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with team oversight, acting as a positive role model, and supporting the Mission and Core Values of McLean School.
This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience as a youth, high school, and/or club-level coach, experience with providing differentiated instruction to athletes of all levels, effective written and oral communication skills, knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of competitive baseball, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience.
Essential Duties
- Support the Head Coach in planning, directing, and administering policies for all team practices and matches.
- Help communicate team expectations at the start of the season and reinforce them throughout.
- Assist in designing training sessions that are dynamic, engaging, and provide appropriate challenges for athletes.
- Foster a positive and respectful team environment rooted in hard work, teamwork, sportsmanship, and support for teammates.
- Effectively communicate with athletes, parents, and coaching staff regarding team updates, schedules, and expectations.
- Ensure proper safety measures are observed and followed during all team activities, including practices and games.
- Attend and participate in seasonal coaches' meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Provide appropriate attention and care to student-athletes who are injured or ill, including assisting with injury reports and follow-ups.
- Be a positive role model by demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to student-athlete development.
