GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provide assistance to the participating students in the Upward Bound Program, as appropriate in the areas of English and Spanish, and Math and Science. This is a temporary, part-time position, filled on an as-needed basis. Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Restricted-Sustained posture, for prolonged periods; light lifting, some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
SELECTION CRITERIA:Ability to: 1. Create detailed lesson plans; 2. Conduct classroom instruction/activities in accordance with the overall design of Upward Bound objectives and required services; 3. Evaluate student progress; 4. Work with full-time staff in implementing individualized educational work plan for each student; 5. Maintain confidentiality
BENEFITS:
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
Experience: One year of teaching experience with at-risk students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Secondary teaching certification in subject area
